I think it’s never a 100% clear what would be the perfect envoriment for kids. Rather it’s about creating the possibilties for kids to use their own imagination. What inspired me most was the work of Aldo van Eijk who made loads of playgrounds (860!) in Amsterdam, starting in 1947. What saddended me was that there’s probarbly only a few left. And wrecking stuff and building all over isn’t quite in todays sustainible building spirit. Besides that, with todays stagnation in the building sector, loads of places are just wasting away. So I started thinking about making an playground that was re- usable and that could give places that are left unused in the city back to children. This is what came out of it. A playground that can be taken apart and set back up anywhere in different configurations. Made of wood and steel it makes a great playground for kids to run wild and use their imagination. A place just for kids: grown ups NOT allowed!
“I have lived a great deal among grown-ups. I have seen them intimately, close at hand. And that hasn’t much improved my opinion of them.”
